What's the difference between a virtual card and a physical card?

Are you unsure which type of card to choose — virtual or physical? Read more about the differences here.

When you order a card for yourself, you can choose between a physical card or a virtual card.

A virtual card has a card number, CVC code and expiry date – just like any other card. However, a PIN code is not created for a virtual card, as this is not required for online payments or through your phone's virtual wallet (Apple/Google Pay).

Benefits of having a virtual card include:

  • More secure - Virtual cards are more secure because the card details cannot be physically obtained by a third party, reducing the risk of fraud.

  • Better expense tracking - By having different cards for different services, you can keep better track of your expenses. If you need to close one of your cards, all of your subscriptions won't be affected.

Benefits of having a physical card include:

  • If you choose a physical card but want to start using it immediately, you can add it to Apple/Google Pay, or check your card details from Zevoy App. This way, you can start using the card immediately after it's been ordered. This means that your physical card works both ways - physically and virtually.

  • When traveling abroad, it is a good idea to also carry a physical card with you, especially for car rental companies and hotels.
